New Media Technologies

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Photoshop.
In the construction of our ancillary products, it was neccessary to use photoshop, after research into our technologies; we learned photoshop had consistent application which we could use to create our desired effects.

We liked the image of the photo frame and the broken glass, combined with the airbrushes, in order to create a grainy effect. The icon labelled, Opacity, allowed us to access different levels of 'grain', this allowed us to manipulate the image further and make our image more accurate in contrast with the broken glass. This example shows a denser opacity.

Here, we see a close up of our font testings and airbrush techniques. I like the sharp contrast between the thin white lines and the black background.

Simple applications which allowed us to create text; including the price, date and website. We chose a font relevant to our research examples; as well as making reference to our genre through colour.

Final Cut Pro.

Our main product, involved the use of an advanced editing programme. We chose Final Cut instead of iMovie in order to complete our project on time, due to lack of facilites. Overall, i think this was beneficial to our understanding of editing i comparison to iMovie. It was also easier because it was very similar to Avid, a programme we are familiar with from our AS coursework.

MICROSOFT WORD.
Me and my group are very familiar with this application. It was useful when reviewing our spelling, and allowed me to upload the documents via docstoc.com, onto my blog in order to show the correct layout.

MICROSOFT EXCEL.
This application allowed us to create graphs of our data. It creates an image which we were able to print screen and upload to our blog to simplify reading; and emphasize data results.
